Overview

Mount Kilimanjaro, standing as Africa’s highest peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), is a majestic and iconic symbol of Tanzania. The mountain is a stratovolcano with three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. The Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and less crowded routes to the summit, offering breathtaking views and a rich variety of landscapes, from lush rainforests to stark alpine deserts. Starting on the western side of Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho Route is known for its gradual ascent, which allows for better acclimatization and increases the chances of reaching the summit.

The Lemosho Route typically takes 8 days, providing ample time to acclimatize and enjoy the diverse ecosystems of Kilimanjaro. The trail passes through some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the mountain, including the Shira Plateau, the Lava Tower, and the Barranco Valley. The route eventually joins the Machame Route at Barranco and follows the Southern Circuit to the summit. With its lower foot traffic and stunning scenery, the Lemosho Route is ideal for those looking for a challenging yet rewarding Kilimanjaro experience.
